CROAJINGALONG CENTRE FOR COMMUNICATION AND THE ARTS

A Joint venture of Mallacoota Genoa Broadcasting Association Inc. and Mallacoota Arts Council Inc.

Vision

To fund and build a facility to enhance and showcase our unique community spirit by providing a focal point for the future development of the Arts and Communication in Mallacoota

Mission

Our mission is to accommodate Mallacoota and Genoa Broadcasting Association Inc (3MGB) and the Mallacoota Arts Council Inc (MAC) in an environmentally sensitive multipurpose community resource centre comprising two purpose built radio studios, an art gallery and the MAC office. The main street location will encourage the participation of residents and visitors in the activities of the gallery and radio station. A lecture theatre will provide suitable accommodation for a niche educator and will double as a community meeting facility.

We will raise funds for the building through community fundraising events and by seeking grants from Local, State and Federal Governments. We are seeking opportunities for partnerships with interested educational providers and establishment of long term leases with local organisations will be pursued to ensure the viability of the facility into the future. Hosting exhibitions, tuition by local, regional and touring visual and performance artists will add to both the utility and revenue opportunities for the centre. In due course we aspire to develop a recording studio and multimedia laboratory.

This facility will provide sustainable training and employment opportunities for youth in this isolated rural community.

Strategic Objectives

• Establish a realistic timeline for construction of the facility having regard to acquisition of the necessary funding.

• Develop a fund raising budget that will meet the projects needs in a timely way; include planning community fund-raising activities and making submissions to government and other potential donor enterprises.

• Develop a brief to be provided to architects that describe the centres chief characteristics and include budget constraints and proposed timelines. Includes establishment of a short list of potential architectural consultants.

• Define potential educators and other groups that may be interested in participating in the building and/or future leasing of the centre's facilities and obtain letters of intent from them.

• Ensure effective communication with, and approvals from, core stakeholders, namely MAC & 3MGB and develop advocacy opportunities with potential community influencers at all levels.

• To educate and raise the awareness of the local community about the 3CA project.

• To develop a business plan demonstrating the long term viability of the facility.

3CA Update April 2006

3CA is the Building sub-committee of MAC & 3MGB and its Vision & Mission are displayed on its MC2 Website. This sub-committee meets monthly and the Chairmanship alternates between each parent organisation every six months, changing in January and July.

Following the successful Art Exhibition and the Little Stevies concert 3CA has sufficient funds for day to day operation. This enables committee members to focus on the main task of raising funds for premises to accommodate MAC & 3MGB on the land in Maurice Avenue.

If you wish to provide any input to 3CA please approach one of the committee members: Michael Beedle (Chairman), Christine Liedtke (Secretary), Naomi Gordon (Treasurer), Sue Chapman or Yolande Oakley who will be happy to communicate your ideas at the next committee meeting.
